Sharing Hope in Crisis Seminars

UPCOMING SEMINARS - VIEW DETAILS

We all know a friend, neighbor, or co-worker who is struggling with a life crisis. Our Sharing Hope in Crisis seminar (SHIC) will help you know what to say and what not to say to people who are grieving and enable you to compassionately and appropriately share the love and hope of Jesus Christ.

This one-day seminar is suitable for everyone in the local church and is also ideal for counsellors, church leaders and those who encounter suffering people on a regular basis.

  • Learn how to approriately provide emotional and spiritual care
  • Learn skills to share God's love and comfort to those in crisis
  • Gain a better biblical and basic clinical understanding of grief and trauma, and how best to minister in the situations.
  • Find out more about the Rapid Response Team ministry and opportunities to serve as a volunteer Chaplain.

Seminar content:

  • A mission to respond - why do we do this?
  • Suffering and trauma - what is trauma, how do people behave, what do they look like?
  • A ministry of hope - what hope do we have? How to minister to people with no hope?
  • A message to share - how do we share the message in practice?
  • Ministry to a diverse community - what to say/not to say. Common mistakes.
  • A messenger to serve - Rapid Response Team chaplaincy and further opportunities

 Quotes from seminar participants:

“Thank you for opening a unique opportunity to partner in a positive ministry opportunity – the credibility of BGEA is a great way to connect with people – at the point of real need.  It opened my eyes to a great opportunity.  All very helpful.”

“It is such a relief to know I don’t have to have all the answers, in fact I sometimes don’t even need words.  It has given me confidence to go just wherever God directs me, to speak to, but mostly listen to, those who are suffering.”

“This seminar is based on God’s grace, love, compassion, empathy, togetherness and security.  Everyone needs these at some time – even if they don’t want it.  They need it through and after times of trauma and grief.”
